Lift Modernisation Project
Cranford House is a nursing home and was served by one passenger lift to provide access to the upper floor for the residents.
The existing lift was 30 years old and in need of a complete refurbishment to maintain reliability and meet the equality act. Removing the lift from service would prevent residents from accessing the common areas at ground floor and so it was decided to install an additional platform lift prior to modernising the passenger lift.
A new lift shaft and foundations were constructed on an external elevation of the building and a new platform lift installed and commissioned.
After a satisfactory proving period, the passenger lift was removed from service and modernised completely to ensure compliance with the equality act and to incorporate heavy duty equipment to ensure a further 25year life cycle.
All generic equipment was installed manufactured by independent suppliers based in the UK.
The property now benefits from two permanent lifts.
