The Attenborough Centre for Creative Arts (originally the Gardner Arts Centre) consists of an unusual circular auditorium that was originally built in 1969 and is Grade II listed.
The centre was closed in 2007 but has been completely stripped and refurbished to create a new centre for the performing arts.
The centre did not originally contain a lift, however, in order to meet the Equality Act a new passenger lift was required to serve the public and back-stage areas of the centre.
Guideline Lift Services provided a bespoke solution to meet the Grade II listed requirements. This included a glass lift entrance at the public levels, which was a key factor in the lift award.
The project was completed on budget and programme to the entire satisfaction of the design team.
