Royal Garden Hotel’s Lift

Royal Garden Hotel’s Lift Number: 1 Start/end date: May 2015 – July 2015 Job type: Replacement Lift 11 in the Royal Garden Hotel is an essential goods lift for the hotel and is used for major deliveries doing functions and exhibitions. The original lift was installed 1963, but had not been modernised and was subsequently worn, misused and in an unreliable state to the point where major failure was imminent. As the incumbent maintenance provider for the hotel, Guideline were awarded the contact to replace the lift entirely with a Twin Ram hydraulic heavy duty goods/passenger lift to ensure continued reliability. The existing borehole was capped and a new installation completed. All building works necessary were included as part of the lift contract to provide a “Turn Key” project. Ivor Court Lifts

Number of Ivor Court lifts: 2 Start/end date: April 2014 – February 2015 Job type: Replacement In November 2013, Guideline lifts secured the contract for the replacement of two original 1930’s passenger lifts with modern machine room-less passenger lifts, which were specifically designed to compliment the “Art-Deco” style of the building. The lifts were replaced consecutively to ensure the residents were served by one lift at all times. During the works, specialists were engaged to remove asbestos materials identified by a survey and these works were completed prior to the installation of each new lift. Guideline Lift Services were specified as a specialist contractor directly by the client and co-ordinated works with the main contractor. Guideline Lift Services’ experience and specialist design competence was a major factor in securing the project. Sevenoaks Hospital’s Lift – NHS Property Services Ltd

Sevenoaks Hospital’s Lift Number: 1 Start/end date: January 2015 – April 2015 Job type: Replacement The existing bed/passenger lift within the main hospital had reached the end of its useful life and being a hydraulic lift was using a large amount of power. Following a tender process, Guideline Lift Services secured the contract for the complete replacement of the lift with an electric traction machine room-less lift including removal of the existing lift and completion of all associated building works. Guideline Lift Services were appointed as principal contractor under the CDM regulations. The new bed/passenger lift was equipped with evacuation facilities for use in the event of an emergency. The client has benefited from considerable cost savings due to variable frequency technology and energy saving lighting. Metropolitan Police Property Services’ Lift

Metropolitan Police Property Services’ Lift Number: 1 Start/end date: February 2015 – April 2015 Job type: Modernisation The five existing lifts were substantially modernised by Guideline Lift Services in 2008, however none of the five lifts served the top floor of the building. Due to storage shortages in the building it was decided to extend the existing firefighting lift to serve the 15th Floor and provide access to newly created storage and office space. The works were specified by Guideline and negotiated with the main contractor already working on site. The extension was carried out over three phases in order for the main contractor to cut an opening at the 15th floor, diamond cut through the machine room floor slab and extend the lift shaft. New equipment was manufactured and installed to match existing lift entrances and the firefighting system was modified as required. University of Sussex

Number of lifts: 1 Start/end date: January 2015 – April 2015 Job type: Construction The Attenborough Centre for Creative Arts (originally the Gardner Arts Centre) consists of an unusual circular auditorium that was originally built in 1969 and is Grade II listed. The centre was closed in 2007 but has been completely stripped and refurbished to create a new centre for the performing arts. The centre did not originally contain a lift, however, in order to meet the Equality Act a new passenger lift was required to serve the public and back-stage areas of the centre. Guideline Lift Services provided a bespoke solution to meet the Grade II listed requirements. This included a glass lift entrance at the public levels, which was a key factor in the lift award.
